So is this to be the final album by Mike Skinner ?

We will see. I had this in the car today, ‘cos the only way to listen to a cd is the car , right? and The Streets cd’s do go well in the car !

Computers & Blues, at first listen is a pretty tough one, If you are expecting the almost anthemic songs of Everything Is Borrowed, then you will have to wait till at least track 9, though they do not disappoint. I have always liked The Streets, Mike Skinner doesn’t represent my life in many ways, but I can still empathize with the songs. About 2 yrs ago at the Electric Proms, from the roundhouse in London, where he had flu, and still performed, the show was unbelievable, one gig I wish I’d been there!!

There have been many imatations on The Streets, but none have come close in my eyes, on this unique social commentary, which is always fresh and relevant in todays society. Original Pirate Material could be released today, and still have the same impact.

So if you fancy listening to something totally out of your comfort zone, ( for me anyway ) this is worth a listen, because the songs actually mean something, compared to all this pap, and manufactured rubbish that claims to be music today.

If this is the last Streets cd, or whether Mike Skinner finds another outlet for his socail commentary, I will look forward to it .

D often crawls into our bed at about 3am, falls asleep and takes over the bed.

Well 2 nights ago she was already there asleep at midnight ! when we went to bed.

J, and I were talking about the games D was playing that day, especially the one where D pretends to be a sheep, who gets cold after being sheared, and goes and steals the wool back off of the farmer, and sticks it back on with tape….  ( yes my daughter has a strong imagination ! )

Half way through us talking about this …  D rolls over to J, and says and says ” I was …….  er sheep……    er   stick ….   wool on…… tape ”  then rolls over to me and continues to sleep !!  the kinda thing you say when you are drunk…..   well..  maybe that’s just me ?

  I tell you, D never misses a thing….

currently listening to Lost In Translation – soundtrack cd

Just heard that the heart consultant has agreed to see D in May !!

This a major deal, and at least it isn’t a year like he first said !

D is welsh, by nature of being born in Wales,

But she is still half English.

J, tried to get her to shout for Wales in the rugby last week, and D said to me, “Dad, I’m half Welsh……”   To wish I replied, yes, but remember that the bigger half in English ! ”

That confused her…

So do I get her to say ” Hey up Pops ” when we go home to Sheffield !! that’ll confuse her.!!

 Friday was a bad day

 A sad day

Activision cancelled the Guitar Hero game.

I’m not even that good ! though we all believe we have the ability to do a bit of shredding , right ?

currently listening to Powderfinger – Golden Rule

So the weekend turned out to be quite better than expected.bonding time for me and D.

Me and D, went to the park after and fed the ducks, and did the swings, though D was quite dismayed by the fact that the roundabout had been removed !!

The we drove over to ASDA ( other supermarkets are available ) and got some flowers for tomorrow, and food, we then came back and planted the sun flower seeds,

Today was filled mainly by guitar hero and trying to sort out our attic, which uncovered quite a few memories, and also quite a bit of junk, which needed binning, so we can put more junk in the attic. !!  it’s kinda like a big filing system up there !

currently listening to Ashes to Ashes theme album.

I have some time with D this weekend.

If the weather is good, hopefully we shall go to the country park

then we have sunflowers to plant. There is nothing like trying to get children into gardening, also D is very clingy to J. Hopefully we can start to break this down by having some quality time with her.

Then soon we are off to Sheffield to see the family, to let my family have some time with D. not sure if my sisters plan of going to the chinese supermarket on the tram will come off though, I think D has plans of seeing my sisters pet cat, Morris……   Goodness help Morris !

Currently listening to Alter Bridge.

D, saw her great-uncle the other day, who is in a wheelchair sometimes.

She came home and said to us, “I’ve just seen uncle George, he was in his wheel barrow ”

priceless

Is this a new theme, or am I being a bit Koi ??

Still unsure about this theme, it seems a bit wussy for me, it is supposed to be subtle, but I think it goes a bit too far !

BUT a long weekend back in God’s own country of Yorkshire beckons soon, counting down the days till I see the folks again. though it means more home renovations on my sisters house probably, and in fairness she don’t pay well!!! haha

listening to The Gaslight Anthem – ’59 Sound

 I’m not a fan of live cd’s

Pink Floyd – pulse, and Red Hot chili’s – Hyde Park are exceptions.

But This cd is AMAZING…….

If you are a fan of Alter Bridge, then this CD is an absolute must !!

For the bargain price of £8.99 (uk) you get the Live DVD, the Live CD , an hour documentary, and photo gallery……    ANY other band would charge x3 times as much for this easily.

Ok I am biased ‘cos I love Alter Bridge, and Myles Kennedy’s voice as a singer, but if you like Rock , then this seriously is for you,  go to their web page and listen to the sample songs from the last album.

If you get a chance also to hear Slash’s live recording from Vancover last year, ( oh , with Myles Kennedy as vocalist !! ) this also is an amazing live album !
